User review: Worth the extra money
May 14, 2009 by William McCarty
First of all, I like to start off saying that this is an excellent machine. Both the computer and Apple’s design are cutting-edge.
1. Speed: The new MacBook Pro is as fast and quiet as a PowerBook should be. Apple’s late G4 machines always seemed underpowered, but this new Intel powered machines are just right. As expected for such a high-end notebook, the performance is great, also thanks to Mac OS X.
2. Design: The MPB laptop is so thin compared to other computers, also the aluminum case looks stunning. I like the black chicklet keyboard that I’m typing this review right now. The glossy screen doesn’t bother me, but then again I’m never outside with my laptop, so no comment on that. The Magsafe power adapter is also a cool design element and very useful. So, great design overall.
3. Mac OS X: A Mac is not just about design and I knew this before buying. With the MBP, I switched from Windows to OS X and it’s the best decision I made in terms of shopping for a notebook. The operating system is great for switchers like me. After the first week I learned all the shortcuts and got to know some important Apple software. The iLife and iWork suites are great compilations of software, make life easier for me.
So all in all, the MPB is awesome! Working on a computer has never been so much fun for me before. I do have a much stronger Windows desktop PC, but since I bought the Apple MacBook Pro, everything has changed and I’m using the MPB almost all the time. Check it out for yourself, it’s worth it!
