User review: Looks great, works great!
April 3, 2009 by Thomas Fergish
I love my new Acer Aspire One. It’s fast enough for me once I uninstalled all of the preinstalled bloatware, like the virus scanner. I also upgraded the BIOS to 1.05., now the temperature in CA stays at 52-60C at full load.
At first, I was worried about getting a netbook as I have had a 12 inch laptop and wasn’t happy with the display size. But this screen is really bright it doesn’t become an issue, not to mention the 1024×600, it’s enough for me.
The greatest feature is that it runs 7.5 to 8 hours due to the 5800Amh 6 cell battery! Very happy with that. I can work on this machine all day or two before recharging, very nice! I kept looking at the battery indicator in disbelief that the battery was still 75% or 50%, it just lasts forever!
I also wanted a stylish netbook, so I ordered the red model. Very good choice, the red case looks very beautiful and will certainly survive day-to-day usage. I’m very happy with the red design, it certainly attracts jealous looks.
All in all, the 10 inch Aspire One is a super portable netbook and really how laptops SHOULD be. It doesn’t weight too much when actually sitting in your lap which is nice. I have had many laptops with different screen sizes over the years, and this one wins hands down for price and performance. The unit has a strong heavy duty case, compared to some newer thin plastic laptops.
Spectacular little machine that can do a lot.
