User review: Good and silent external hard drive

I ordered an Iomega Prestige external hard drive with 1 TB storage one month ago. My computer’s hard drive was almost full and I needed a place to store my personal files, mostly photo and movie files. This hard drive fits the bill and works perfectly although the transfer rate/read rate is a bit slower than I’d like. Still, I have lots and lots of files, so maybe the speed is what I should expect.

I sometimes forget to turn the hard drive off and it does not get hot, instead the case stays lukewarm at all times. I think, a light on the front would help me to remember to turn it off regularly. The power indicator is on the side and the power switch is on the back. The unit is very silent, so there isn’t a glaring signal to remind me. It almost makes no noise at all.

I’ve only had good luck with Iomega products so far and have been using them for years. I hope this one won’t be any different (fingers crossed). After one month of usage and a lot of coping and deleting, the 1 TB Iomega Prestige is an excellent product.
